The Fort McMurray Firefighters Charity Association is donating $35,000 to local social profits.
The Fort McMurray Boys and Girls Club, Fort McMurray SPCA, Wood Buffalo Food Bank, the Centre of Hope and Waypoints will each receive $7,000.
Last year, the association donated a total of $75,000 to the non-profits.
With the economic downturn triggered by low oil prices, COVID-19 and April’s flooding, association committee member Scott Germain said non-profits are struggling for supports as they keep up with increased demand from the public.
