Hundreds of people put in thousands of volunteer hours for post-flood recovery

FuseSocial saw more than 750 people volunteer more than 6,000 hours during the 21-day period following April’s flooding.

Based on current statistics, FuseSocial said in a release this represents a value of more than $170,000 worth of hours.

The data was collected through the organization’s WBVolunteers website, which coordinates volunteer opportunities within the region.

Since the flood, there has been a total of 1417 new people signed up, making up 53 per cent of users. There were also more than 10 new organizations that signed up to use the platform.
